Street Stories - A Ringside Seat To Over 4 Decades Of Taking Jesus To The Streets Of The World
schedule of preaching revival meetings. None of us knew what was ahead, but they were committed to keep their preaching schedule and being faithful to the calling God has placed upon them. Nothing, not even a plane crashing into the World Trade Center in New York City, was going to stop them from preaching the Gospel as God had called them to do. Even if it meant driving all the way from Texas to Alabama. After we prayed for them and they drove away, Dot called our daughter, Amy, in Los Angeles and woke her up. She told Amy what was happening in New York City and suggested she keep our 7-year-old grandson, Dakota, home from school. Then she called our other two daughters, Molly and Emily, and apprised them of what was happening in our nation. Dot and I sat in the living room with Granny, glued to the TV, shocked by what we were seeing unfold. Unbelievably, seventeen minutes after the first plane hit, a second plane, United Airlines flight 175, struck floors 77 to 85 of the South Tower, World Trade Center 2. Our hearts broke when we saw the burning Twin Towers crumble to the ground, knowing thousands of our fellow citizens were perishing inside. Then we learned of the attack on the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. and the brave Americans on the plane they forced down in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Likely, the hijacker’s plan was to crash this plane into the White House or the U.S. Capitol. W.V.’s jarring prophetic words just two days prior were blaring in my ears. I vividly remember him shouting, “ Destruction is coming to America.”
