Allah. The beggar began to smile, unconcerned about the danger he was posing.
We discovered the beggar’s name was Yudi. We picked Yudi up and helped him go inside KFC with us. We seated him at the head of the table.
We told the KFC employees, “Give this man anything he wants. We will pay for whatever he orders.”
Our team was breaking many norms of the Indonesian culture. We had taken a lowly beggar, shunned, and ignored by society, and placed him at the head of the table. He was occupying the head seat at the table of an established facility, surrounded by a team of Americans. I don’t think without us, Yudi would have even been allowed inside. Now he was at the head of the table being treated like royalty.
This scene was causing quite a stir inside the KFC.
Now, Yudi was saved. He had a brand-new Bahasa Bible to study and grow as a believer. All the angels in heaven were rejoicing. We decided we too should rejoice with Yudi in the KFC.
Yudi once was lost, but now he was found.
Hallelujah.
After overeating at KFC, we returned to the van and handed Mohammed a meal for him to eat too. Wherever we go and minister around the world, we always want to be a blessing to those locals who serve our team.
