At the church office, we met a dynamic young minister named Pastor Donny Leiwakabessy. He had such a heart to reach people for Jesus. We also met a young, anointed worship leader named Anjelica Reisa. After Anjelica led us in a time of worship, we asked her, “If you were going today to help victims of the Sumatra earthquake, where would you go?”

Without hesitation she said, “I would go to Padang

Pariaman.”

We knew the epicenter of the earthquake was in Padang Pariaman. Our hearts were fixed to go to the “Ground Zero” where the earthquake struck. We had felt all along Padang Pariaman was where we were to go preach and minister.

We took Anjelica’s answer as a confirming word

from the Lord.

We were not prepared for how God would eventually use us in the jungles of Indonesia. He was about to show us His power and His saving grace. Pastor Steve had one mission he wanted us to join him in before we left Jakarta for Padang Pariaman. He led us to the outskirts of town to a fenced-in leper community. I admit, I had never visited a leper community. I’m confident none of the rest of our team from America had ever been to one either.
