Suddenly, there was a bit of a commotion at the gate, and we realized the camera crew was there to film the arrival of United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki moon. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon was only traveling with a very small delegation of two other U.N. representatives because their visit was to be somewhat clandestine. We discovered the U.N. Secretary General and his small delegation had come to Myanmar to personally plead with the Myanmar leadership to open the nation to international disaster relief workers. We boarded our plane taking us from Myanmar back to Bangkok where we would prepare to return home to America. When we landed in Bangkok, we went to a restaurant at the airport that also had a bar inside. The television in the airport restaurant and bar was almost relegated to background noise. But to me, the CNN news broadcast bringing up to date information regarding the aftereffects of Cyclone Nargis in nearby Myanmar was my focus. Then, I heard a commentator say something I would never forget. As he faced the camera, he emphatically stated, “To this day, there have been no foreign disaster relief teams allowed into Myanmar following Cyclone Nargis. No one has been allowed in. ” Wrong! The report on CNN was inaccurate. God had taken our four-man, Spirit-filled team, and brought us from America to Myanmar. Although it seemed all the forces of hell were against us, He miraculously cracked open a door for us to literally sneak into the closed
