Street Stories - A Ringside Seat To Over 4 Decades Of Taking Jesus To The Streets Of The World
devastation and loss of life so as not to be brought into the light of public scrutiny.
I understood why, when handing me the highly classified DVD, the woman at the airport said, “Please get the truth out!” Few people in the outside world had direct knowledge of the horrors being concealed in Myanmar. We knew we had a great relief mission ahead of us. After a good night’s sleep at a hotel in Yangon, we arose and went straight to what appeared to be a small, underground church on the outskirts of town. The church was packed, full of parents and children ready to lift up the Name of Jesus. I noticed many of the children had large white circles on their cheeks that we never completely found out if that was some kind of religious sign or it was some type of protection for their skin. The church was dimly lit with one light bulb attached to a wire hanging from the ceiling. I took my guitar and began to lead the crowd in praise and worship to the Lord. Jerry Davis also sang a few songs and preached a short message of hope and redemption. Lee Sims also preached a great message of encouragement and Brother Bill finished the service off with a message of salvation in the Lord. Even though these believers were still suffering from the catastrophic storm, they were full of joy and laughter. We left the church service and headed toward a very large, fenced in two story building that had been turned into a refugee camp. I was not prepared for what we were about to experience.
