He handed me the phone and in a weak voice I said, “Hello.” It was so great hearing Dot’s soothing, loving voice on the other end of the phone. She began to talk to me, encourage me and stir my faith. Dot said, “Hey love. Brother Bill says you must get up and go to the airport.” Then she reminded me, “You know that song you always sing, ‘Every step I take I take in You, You are my way Jesus.” She continued, “Just believe God and get up and know that every step you take you are taking in Jesus.” I thanked her, told her I loved her and hung up the phone. Miraculously, I stood to my feet near the side of the bed and put both hands on the wall, balancing myself and inching toward the guest house door. As I took each step, like Dot told me, I kept saying to myself, “Every step I take I take in You, Jesus!” Bill and I got into a cab and met Jerry and Lee at the airport in Bangkok. With our miraculously approved on-arrival visas in hand, we boarded the plane flying us into Yangon, Myanmar’s largest city. I sat in my seat as upright as possible, all the while claiming every step, every move, each step of faith I was taking that I was taking it in the power of the Lord. One hour and nineteen minutes after takeoff, our plane touched down in Yangon. What happened next has strengthened me and reminded me that Jesus will never leave us or forsake us. No matter how difficult or dark things get, He is there in the midst of our storm. After entering Yangon International Airport, we quickly walked to the bag claim area. I quickly saw what it was like to live in a country that is completely controlled by the military. About a dozen military soldiers, dressed in dark green military uniforms
