Our local cab driver overheard us talking aloud about our plight trying to get into Myanmar. He looked at me and somewhat under his breath said, “I can smuggle you into Myanmar.” A bit stunned, I replied to him, “It’s not the smuggling IN to Myanmar I’m worried about. It’s the smuggling back OUT of Myanmar that concerns me.” We all shared a nervous laugh as we reached our destination and climbed out of the cab. We went into a large building and met directors from many ministries and disaster relief aid workers from around the world. Everyone we talked to and fellowshipped with had the same dilemma. What can we do to be granted travel visas to enter Myanmar to help those in urgent need? Just as we had, these disaster relief teams had traveled to Bangkok, Thailand to obtain visas from the Myanmar Embassy and be able to help. The military junta continued to resist any help or aid that would be coming from the free world outside of Myanmar. We all prayed for God to make a way. In the middle of the night at the Bangkok Christian Guest House, I woke up to our room spinning like a merry-go-round. I asked Bill, “Is the room spinning?” He told me our room was not spinning. I reached up and put my hand on the wall. I was suffering a crippling episode of vertigo, and I was unable to move without severe dizziness.
