Street Stories - A Ringside Seat To Over 4 Decades Of Taking Jesus To The Streets Of The World
Cindy was not an easy girl to be around for long. She had some learning disabilities and people that didn’t understand her problems just thought that she was spoiled and maybe even mean-spirited. The Lord allowed me to see a different side of Cindy. I saw a beautiful, young girl who just needed to know Jesus. She needed to know she was loved. Unfortunately, Cindy was not capable of raising a baby herself. I went with her to childbirth classes, and I was privileged to be in the delivery room with her when she delivered the baby. When Cindy left the hospital, we brought her to our home for a week. We could see that she just didn’t have the coping skills at her young age to care for an infant. It broke her heart to consider giving this baby up for adoption. We hugged, we cried, we prayed together until, one day, Cindy said she needed to make a decision. She struggled emotionally to do the right thing for the baby. It was not an easy decision, but it was a right decision for her to give the baby to a wonderful Christian family for adoption. This child was so blessed to be adopted by this particular family. They were able to love and provide for this child. We are still in touch with the family, and we are so proud of the adult this baby has become. Our family in Texas wanted to help Cindy get through this tough time. They flew her to Texas and spent time with her and even took her to a real Texas Rodeo! Although Cindy was grateful for what my sisters, Brenda Grant and Priscilla Bolt and my mom, Maxine Reynolds, did for her she was crushed emotionally and so wished she had been able to raise her child.
