Sing Into Your Storm

tribulations (storms). God ’s purpose is to bring us through the Garden of Gethsemane and up to the Mountain of Myrrh.

Myrrh is a beautiful and fragrant ointment that is also used as a death spice or burial spice. Jesus’ body was prepared with myrrh at the time of His death in preparation for His burial. Myrrh is translated from the Hebrew as “ mor ”. Most Bible Scholars say that the Mountain of Myrrh most likely refers to Mt. Moriah. Where was the Garden of Gethsemane? On the Mount of Olives – which is Mt. Moriah (or better said upper Mt. Moriah). The place of death, the place of sacrifice! It was the very same place where God instructed Abraham to bring his son (Mt. Moriah) to build an altar there to sacrifice his son to God something like 1800 years before Christ! Just as Abraham was about to sacrifice Isaac, a ram suddenly appeared in the thickets, fulfilling what Abraham already knew what God would somehow do:

“…God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” (Genesis 22:8)

It is well argued that this very same place and area - where the ram appeared (a type and shadow of the crucifixion of Christ) on Mt. Moriah was also the exact place where the actual crucifixion of Christ took place nearly two millennia later – right there on the Mt. of Olives! Just do a Google search on Cruci fixion + Mt. of Olives… it’s a fascinating study! God did provide for (of) Himself a sacrifice – right on the same spot!
