Sing Into Your Storm

That is why it is so important to learn how to press forward until we apprehend the goal of gaining the heavenly perspective in every situation. To search out the will of God and His purposes through every test or trial. Once we gain the understanding of God’s purposes in a matter, it can release courage to embrace it with full vigor – and not let go! Perhaps one of the greatest demonstrations of this difficult but precious truth is found in the Bible where Jesus had the clear mind of His Father, and though He was about to endure the most excruciating trial of His life. He had the perspective of Heaven and it actually brought him joy in the face of impending agony and suffering!

“… who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. ” (Hebrews 12:2)

Of course we all know this Scripture, but we tend to reconcile its meaning in our minds with a rationale that says “B ut that was Jesus, the strong and powerful Son of God.. .” May I remind you that in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus, knowing that He was at the threshold of severe trauma and a painful death upon the cross:

“…and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. Then He said to them, My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death… He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, ‘ O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will. ’” (Matthew 26:37-39)
