Sing Into Your Storm ~ Overcoming Adversity Through High Praise
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” (Ephesians 6:10-13)
There is a great and amazing truth here we must understand. Overcoming faith for victorious Christian living doesn’t depend on you – it depends on Jesus Christ! He is the one who ultimately won the victory on the cross. We are not fighting for a place of victory – we are fighting from a place of victory! In Christ we are already victorious!
“Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life…” (2 Corinthians 2:14-16)
In this passage Paul is describing the procession of a Roman General just returning to the city of Rome after winning a great battle. Historically, this scene is that of a victory parade marching through the main thoroughfare (which the Romans used to do) to commemorate their victory in war.
