The Psalms
The Psalms can be broken down into two different classes, poetic and prophetic . King David, who was called the sweet Psalmist of Israel, wrote many of the Psalms in the Bible. The title to the Book of “Psalms” ( Tehilliam ) means “ songs of praise ” or better said “Sacred songs or poems sung to musical accompaniment.” Psalms arise from the deepest, heartfelt place in your heart and soul. They can extol, bless and glorify God with thanksgiving, or bear unto the Lord the depths of pain, suffering, and sorrow in lament like David describes below:
“I am weary with my groaning; all night I make my bed swim; I drench my couch with my tears. My eye wastes away because of grief; it grows old because of all my enemies.” (Psalms 6:6-7)
Psalms can also be as prayers to the Lord:
“The prayers (Psalms) of David the son of Jesse are ended.” (Psalms 72:20)
Psalms can also become very prophetic, as you immerse yourself in the Spirit of the Lord through psalmic worship . A classic example below is David’s stunningly accurate prophetic psalm about the crucifixion of Christ. It was written
