ROMANS Study Guide
… convinced in what he was writing:Vs.38 -39
(1) Nothing of death (2) Nothing of this life (3) No angelic being (4) No spiritual authority (good or bad) (5) No spiritual power (most likely referring to the demonic) (6) Nothing presently existing (in this age of time) (7) Nothi ng that is about to come (future age of time… something we have not anticipated or understand) (8) Nothing above (in highest heavens) or below (in lowest hells) (9) Nor any ( hetros …different kind) of creature… Can separate us from the loving relationship God now has with us who are in Christ Jesus.
Conclusion: Chapter eight is the high point Paul has been building towards. Not only are we now justified before God because of the saving work of Christ but now we are sanctified because of his resurrected life. Justification speaks to our “standing” before God and Sanctification speaks to our “condition” before God. In chapter eight, Paul reveals how we can now as believers in Christ “be like” Christ, to live and walk and minister like him because we now have the same Holy Spirit in us aiding in us like Jesus had. (Jn.14:12) We have the secret of Jesus earthly life and ministry living in us. Because we are in Christ, we have access to all that was in him…and through the power and help of the Holy Spirit we can live out a victorious life over Sin, Satan, the World and the Flesh. Paul in the middle of chapt er eight shifts to God’s eternal plan of “bringing many sons into glory” and reveals God’s determined plan to restore all creation to that plan and never to let any such separation (between his creation and himself) happen again for those who receive eternal life through Jesus Christ.
Paul’s Five -Fold Plan for Accessing all we have in Christ
A summation of ideas
I wanted to interject at this point the clear process that Paul has lay-out for his readers to live out the life and ministry of Christ. To many times we present concepts that sound good, but few know how to activate and use what we are teaching. Here is an attempt to draw out five steps of actions from Romans that can help us understand who we are and what we have in Christ Jesus. This is based on Romans Chapters 5 – 8 including chapter 12. I am indebted to Brother Watchman Nee for these insights.
