1) Those He foreknew (God’s knowledge of the future… pro

(before) ginosko (know) … ( Acts 2:23; 1Peter 1:2) This is a

knowing from eternity…before time. God does not dwell in

time as we do… he lives in eternity, the eternal “now” … He

is the Jehovah (the I am - always existing in the present).

2) He also predestined (decided before hand) On the bases of

his knowledge he made his decision.

3) He also called (invited) us …His decision was to call or invite

us to salvation from eternity.

4) He also justified (those who receive Jesus - God saves from the

Judgment of their sins and declares them not guilty)

5) He also glorified (honored, made glorious with his presence).

Paul gets into this theme more in Chapter 9 but again Paul is

simply stressing that God is in control and is setting up all

things to conform to his will in behalf of all those he loves and

is bringing to glory. (vs.30)

Rom 8:31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Rom 8:32 Truly He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Rom 8:33 Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God who justifies. Rom 8:34 Who is he condemning? It is Christ who has died, but rather also who is raised, who is also at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. Rom 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Rom 8:36 As it is written, "For Your sake we are killed all the day long. We are counted as sheep of slaughter." Rom 8:37 But in all these things we more than conquer through Him who loved us. Rom 8:38 For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Rom 8:39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Paul ends this chapter with a reflection on all that has been said in vs.31 “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us who can be against us.” Paul has been pointing out that God has
