a. Sin had reigned in life through death… separating mankind from

the life that was in God… reducing m ankind to his own fallen

nature leading to the corruption, evil and pain of human history.

b. But now through Christ…grace can reign through God’s gift of

righteousness… whoever chooses Christ can now “reign over”

death and the circumstances and issues of this life. Through

Christ, sin and its consequences are destroyed and broken over

the life of a believer (transformation can now begin!!)

Conclusion: Paul has established that the cause of sin is our inherited nature from Adam and the cause of victorious Christian living is also from the inherited life (nature…2 Cor.5:17) we receive in Jesus Christ. As we once has a sin tendency now we have in Christ a righteousness tendency. This sets us up for chapter six where we will look at how we begin to access this new victorious life in Jesus Christ. (vs.21).
