turned to leave, Larry said, “ wait just a minute, I came here

to meet you. ” I responded by inviting him to minister at

our church in Rush Springs. Without hesitation, he

accepted my invitation. Little did I realize that this

encounter would impact my ministry for many years to

come.

New Home in Cool Springs Heights

In 1975, Jean and I were able to give oversight to

the building of our new home. It was a dream come true.

We had been living in the small 900 square foot

parsonage with one bathroom for five years. For several

years, we drove through the new addition, just outside

of town, dreaming about living in Cool Springs Heights.

One day we discovered that we could buy an acre there

for $1,000. We were quite excited when we picked out a

lot and presented our house plans to the only bank in

town. The loan officer quickly approved our

application, loaning us $32,000. We were able to buy the

land, build the house and purchase new furniture for

that amount. One of the most exciting days of our lives!
