don’t do right… kick em out and get some more, and let the

church roll on. ”

As Darla grew older, I enjoyed our father

daughter dates together. She loved for her and I to pick

out special rocks for her collection. We would always

end our dates with a burger at her favorite place, Don’s

Alley Restaurant, in Del City. She made history when

she was in the 8th grade, when she became the first

student at Mid-Del Christian school, now Destiny

Christian School. She was also a member of the first

graduating class, and sang Friends , written by my friend,

Michael W. Smith.

My daughter Darla is one of the most generous

people you will ever meet. I remember her traveling

with us to Haiti on a missionary journey when she was

a teenager. Overwhelmed by their poverty, she was

passing out one-dollar bills at the airport in Port-au

Prince. She attracted a crowd very quickly. We

reminded her, with a smile, that there would soon not
