Chapter Twenty-Five

Brock Gentry

R icky Brock Gentry was born on June 21, 2000.

He was our last grandchild. Jean still calls Brock her

baby, even though he is now 23 years-old and stands

6’4 . ”

Brock grew up loving 4-wheelers. I remember the

many times that we went to the sand dunes outside of

Roswell to ride. We bought Brock a little blue 4-wheeler

for his 3rd birthday. He took off immediately, with those

attending trying to get out of his way, as he drove

around the back yard.

Brock has always been a competitor. When he

was small, I bought a video racing game, and as we were

racing, he abruptly unplugged the machine, because his

Papa was winning. That competitive spirit carried over

into his youth. He became an excellent basketball player.

Brock graduated from Dripping Springs, Texas High

School and studied at Blinn College. He began serving
