Next Steps 2.0 - Moving To Maturity
Just as thoroughly as sin contaminated mankind, God’s salvation will deliver or heal mankind.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely ; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
God provided salvation for us in Jesus in three primary ways.
1. Jesus came to earth to live a life of obedience to God.
The Son of God Who was part and parcel of the only true God was willing to come to earth, clothe Himself with flesh (incarnation), be born of a woman and become God’s remedy for our sin. He was given the name “Jesus” which literally means, “Jehovah is Salvation.” It is the Greek equivalent of the Old Testament Hebrew name “Joshua.” Philippians 2:5-7, NLT You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though He was God, He did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, He gave up His divine privileges; He took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When He appeared in human form, He humbled Himself in obedience to Go d and died a criminal's death on a cross. Jesus lived the perfect life of obedience that Adam and Eve could not live. He lived His life fully submitted to the will and purpose of the Father. He lived a life of purpose and significance as He embraced the Father’s will for His life. And in all that He did, He did not sin…ever!
