2. All those born in sin have no natural inclination toward God.

Because we have this innate sin nature, left to ourselves we have no natural inclination toward God or the things of God. In fact, the Bible indicates that we were enemies of God in our hearts and minds (Col. 1:21). Jeremiah 17:9, NLT The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?

Romans 3:23, NLT For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard.

John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

3. Sinful beings have no understanding of spiritual things.

Apart from Christ we do not have the capacity that we need to understand true spiritual things. It takes the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives to help us to comprehend what God has done for us in the spiritual realm.
