1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians 2:14, BBE For the natural man is not able to take in the things of the Spirit of God: for they seem foolish to him, and he is not able to have knowledge of them, because such knowledge comes only through the Spirit. In our natural condition apart from Christ, our minds and even our consciences are defiled. This means that we cannot trust our thinking that has been shaped by input from sinful sources nor can we trust our consciences that have been programmed by a fallen morality. Titus 1:15 To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled.
