I Appeal To Caesar!
Chapter 5 THE EXODUS Farewell Jerusalem
33 AD Jerusalem
mram is in his mid-twenties and is an insignificant servant in the High Priest’s Palace. His Jewish parents were poor, but they still wanted to give their son a strong name with prophetic destiny. They chose the name of Moses’ father: “Amram” which means “an exalted people,” a grand name, even if they were poor people. His father died when Amram was much younger, leaving the mother and son in a difficult condition. As if that was not trouble enough, the mother, whose name is Rachel, developed a curvature of the spine, making common jobs impossible and creating a very painful existence. She is now a total invalid and her life a nightmare of pain; from a natural standpoint, her situation is hopeless. Obtaining a servant’s job at the High Priest’s Palace, Amram earns just enough to meet basic needs and have a helper for his mother at their home during the day while he is at work. Rachel’s condition can only grow worse, and both mother and son have a dreadful fear of the future.
One wonderful morning, a ray of hope breaks through,
heaven-sent news!
Several excited neighboring couples burst in upon
Rachel, overflowing with unbelievable stories!
