Holy Boldness

the last minute the Lord said, “Tomorrow”. His statement confused me and I ended up losing the bid even though I could have won it except for a simple mistake. I went home and asked, “What did you mean by ‘tomorrow’. He answered, “I meant ‘not today’.” I was devastated and my failure was in front of people I was called to lead. It was humiliating. But it was part of God’s plan to teach me how to let God build His house. The other time, I walked through several steps of obedience and the doors kept opening until I landed the house and moved into it for many years. Its purchase, of course, involved money and I had to procure it to make the purchase but my point is that money did not lead the charge, nor did it give me the confidence that I needed to walk in my obedience. It was the favor of the Lord that led me through to a victori ous conclusion. The remedy to having one’s life consumed by darkness, to false judgments, to being enslaved by money, to the fear of man is to contem plate the expression of God’s special care of His creation. Once again, Jesus leads His disciples back to simplicity. “Consider the Lillies of the field, they neither toil nor spin yet not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed like one of these. So if your father clothes the Lillies of the field which are here today and gone tomorrow, will he not much more clothe you?” (Vv. 28, 29) With these words, Jesus sought to dislodge His followers from a survival mentality into the abundance of grace-filled living. Life is more than food and clothing. If every believer would stop long enough to realize that God’s economy provides for all of creation, they would be so much better. The earth is not going to run out of resources! God is the supply not only for the needs of people but even feeds the birds and puts clothes on the flowers. Those who strive to get ahead often live under the illusion that there is not going to be enough to go around. Wars happen because people do not know how to rest. Unredeemed mankind gets panicked and becomes obsessed by the need to be in control and therefore goes to extraordinary lengths to secure its safety, even if it means enslaving people and destroying creation in the pursuit. The Remedy for Worry
