IV. HOLY PASSIONS The following are some of the holy passions we as born-again believers are to exhibit: A. Passion for His PRESENCE (Exodus 33:14-15; Deuteronomy 4:37, 12:7; Hebrews 10:19) B. Passion for CHRIST Himself (Psalm 42:1-2, 63:6; Philippians 3:8-11, 12-14) C. Passion for God's WORD (Psalm 1:2, 119; Colossians 3:16) D. Passion for God's HOUSE (Psalm 84; Haggai 2; John 2:27) E. Passion for God's PEOPLE (Deuteronomy 32:10; Psalm 17; Zechariah 2:8; Ephesians 5) F. Passion for PURITY (Psalm 51; 2 Corinthians 7:1) G. Passion for the LOST (Psalm 51; Matthew 23:37; John 3:16, 6:39)

I want to close this section with a powerful story I heard from a visiting speaker entitled “The Confessions of Two Old Men.” You will notice quite a difference in these old men’s outlook:

The first old man stated:

“I now have ashes where I once had fire, the soul in my body is dead, the things I once loved I barely admire. My heart is as gray as my head.”

What a sad commentary on this man’s life!

Here is another elderly man with quite a different state of mind and heart. This is the story of an old Mississippi preacher upon mounting his pulpit. In his prayer prior to de- livering his message, he prayed the following:

“Oh Lord, give thy servant this morning eyes of the eagle and wisdom of an owl.
