God's Prophetic People - A People of Passion, Purpose And Power
God's Prophetic People
The Apostle Paul has something very important to say
in relation to returning to simplicity:
“But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ” (2 Corinthians 11:3). With all the technological advances we have experienced in our lifetime, we must not deviate from the simplicity of the gospel, our faith, and devotion to the Lord. When Christ walked this Earth and spoke to us, he did it in a very simplistic way. He spoke to us in parables, a form of speech that amazed and perplexed many. Some people say it was too simple, yet as we turn back the pages of history, this form of communication not only reached and impacted people with its simplicity but also caused many scholars and theologians throughout the centuries to be continually puzzled about the depths of these truths. With so much knowledge available through our advances, we run the risk of thinking we can just go through a certain formula to receive what we desire. Then questions come into our mind such as: If only I’d done this one thing differently… If only I hadn’t tried so hard, I wouldn’t have missed the blessing of the Lord… If only I had raised my hands the right way in worship… If I would have just read that recommended book… If, If, If… We must return to the simplicity of the Christian faith. As we do this, priorities will be placed in proper biblical order and our spiritual passion will be renewed.
