Confirmed by God Himself (Matthew 3:16-17) 5. Daniel spoke of Him as the God of gods and Lord of kings (Daniel 2:47, 4:37) 6. John spoke of Him as the king of the saints, the Lamb who will overcome and the King of kings and Lord of lords (Rev. 15:3; 17:14; 19:16) 7. Jesus Christ is preeminent over all (Ephesians 1:19-23; Colossians 1:18) “And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence” (Colossians 1:18). 1. Jesus Christ is our great High Priest in the order of Melchizedek (Hebrews 5:6, 10; 7:1-28; 8:16) 2. Jesus Christ intercedes for us (John 17:1-28) 3. Jesus Christ was the innocent, holy, undefiled sacrifice for sins (Hebrews 7:26-27) 4. Jesus Christ's atonement for sins was unlike other high priests (Hebrews 9:11-15) 5. Christ's priestly ministry is superior to that of Jewish priests (Hebrews 7:20 - 8:6) a) Christ’s priestly ministry is endless – A priest forever, our great High Priest forever (eternal) b) Christ’s priestly ministry is changeless – He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (absolute) B. Jesus Christ as the Great HIGH PRIEST
c) Christ’s priestly ministry is perfect – He was and is sinless, spotless, and has no need of anything or anybody (complete)
