III. BELIEVERS’ POSITION FOUNDATIONAL TO AUTHORITY AND POWER (Ephesians 2:1-22)
Many people long for a specific position in the church, but in doing so, they overlook the true way God has called them to serve. The key is to not focus on a position within the church, but on your position in Christ. If you’re constantly waiting for your pastor or elder to offer you a role, you may find yourself feeling discouraged or frustrated, and in the end, you might never fully step into the purpose God has for you. Instead, start today by shifting your focus to your identity in Jesus Christ. When you do this, you’ll experience a sense of freedom in your heart and begin to walk in the purposes God has planned for you. You’ll discover how to function in the ways He has called you to, not based on titles or roles, but on His calling and your relationship with Him. A person’s authority in ministry does not come by a position in the church. It comes, rather, from their position in Christ and the gifts God has given. We are about to experience the greatest release in anointing in the Body of Christ — a time when every believer who exhibits faith can be used by God in powerful ways. This will happen to those who know their position in Christ and the gifts He has sovereignly given them. My fear is that those who are so worldly-minded and waiting for a position in the Church will be left behind. Let us all focus on our position in Christ, and function accordingly.
