LESSON 7: THE FALL OF LUCIFER AND A BLIGHTED WORLD 1. WHO WAS LUCIFER? Lucifer was the highest angel in heaven. He was the anointed cherub of God that had access to the throne of God. He was chiefest among the angels of heaven. He was called the "Son of the Morning." Read Ezekiel 28:12-14. 2. WHAT DID LUCIFER LOOK LIKE? Lucifer was a most beautiful creature. Every precious stone was his covering. When he spoke it sounded like a great pipe organ. He was perfect in beauty and in wisdom. Ezekiel 28:13, 14, 15. 3. WHAT HAPPENED TO LUCIFER? Iniquity was found in him (basically pride), and he attempted to overthrow the throne of God and take God's place. God threw him and all his followers out of heaven. They became the Devil and his demons. Notice how God challenges the five boastful "I will's" of Satan with five "I will" statements of His own! Ezekiel 28:17; Isaiah 14:12-14. 4. WHEN DID GOD FIRST CREATE THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH? In the beginning of time, God made the heavens and the earth. When this beginning was, we do not know and the Bible does not say. Science says it happened millions of years ago. Genesis 1:1. 5. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE EARTH? After God's perfect creation the earth suffered a terrible upheaval that caused it to become without form and void. Genesis 1:2. 6. WHAT WAS THE CAUSE OF THIS TERRIBLE UPHEAVAL THAT DESTROYED THE EARTH? The fall of Lucifer and his angel followers caused this terrible upheaval in the world. When they were thrown from heaven, the world was turned upside down and all was without form and void. Isaiah 14:16, 17; 24:1; Jeremiah 4:23-26. 7. WHO FELL FROM HEAVEN WITH LUCIFER? A great host of angels who sinned with Lucifer fell from heaven with him. Jude 6; 2 Peter 2:4.
