Unfaithfulness was as final as death, since the guilty part was killed. A person whose guilty mate was killed, was at complete liberty to marry again. Romans 7:2. WE CONCLUDE, therefore, that the Old Testament Law contained an element of mercy - and awareness of basic physical needs – that is generally overlooked by some Christians. Exodus 20:14; Deuteronomy 24:1-4; Leviticus 19:20-22. 12. WHEN A PERSON BECOMES A CHRISTIAN ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO LEAVE THEIR UNSAVED MATE? Absolutely not! A normal marriage relationship should be maintained which, if anything, will convert the unsaved. 1 Corinthians 7:16; 1 Peter 3:1. Read 1 Corinthians 7:11-14: "…let him not put her away…let her not leave him…" 13. CAN UNBELIEVERS, WHO HAVE BEEN DIVORCED AND REMARRIED BECOME CHRISTIANS AND RECEIVE RIGHT-STANDING WITH GOD? Yes, if they repent of this sin of adultery. Unbelievers can be cleansed in the blood of Christ, justified and sanctified in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. God will forgive them and remove the stain of the past far from them that they might become citizens of the Kingdom of God. When a person becomes a Christian, they should then begin living the Christian life in the situation in which they find themselves. A person, for instance, who has been married several times, with children from both marriages, cannot leave the present mate and try to reconcile with a former mate. Marital tangles are so involved these days that it is best and sanest for a person to start serving God in his present situation - trusting 223
