Bible so that they may be worthy members of the Church of Jesus Christ. 4. IS THERE MORE THAN ONE CONFIRMATION FOR BELIEVERS? Yes, there are steps in confirmation which may be experienced one at a time. These steps fall into three classes: A. SIMPLE CONFIRMATION. After a new convert has had a period of instruction in the basic truths of Christ and the Bible, there should be a public acknowledgment that he now understands what is expected of him as a disciple. At the conclusion of this catechism course, we will publicly lay hands on those who have demonstrated their grasp of the doctrines taught. This experience will help establish the believer in the faith of the Lord Jesus Christ - both publicly and personally. 1 Corinthians 1:5, 6; 2 Timothy 3:14. B. CONFIRMATION WITH PROPHECY. This experience should be for those who are ready to begin a spiritual function and ministry for the Lord. A presbytery of proven ministers (preferably visiting ministers from outside the local church) should lay hands on each candidate and through Divine wisdom and prophetic utterance give each believer a confirmation of their spiritual calling and an impartation of spiritual gifts. 1 Timothy 1:18; 4:14; 2 Timothy 1:6; Acts 13:1-4. Old Testament: Genesis 48:14; Deuteronomy 34:9. NOTE: This experience should occur after fasting and prayer, and the person upon whom hands are laid should be a dedicated Christian in the local church.
