God And His Word - A Question And Answer Approach To Understanding The Bible
and then also after His resurrection Jesus continues to sing and fulfill the psalms by singing through the praises of the Church (Mark 14:26; Hebrews 2:12; Psalms 22:22). Paul linked his Christ-centered way of worshipping with the teaching of the Law and the Prophets (Acts 24:14). Paul writes to the Roman Gentile Church and in telling them how they can glorify God, he refers twice to David and once to Moses (Romans 15:9-11; Psalms 18:49; 117:1; Deuteronomy 32:43). Paul twice exhorts the New Testament Churches to use the psalmic method of praise (Colossians 3:17; Ephesians 5:19). Finally, the Book of Revelation - which shows us the perfected will of God in Heaven - thunders with the same praise and adoration that is taught in the book of Psalms; John, the writer of Revelation, is admonished to "worship God" (Revelation 19:10), and obviously he should worship in the same way that he sees those in the heavenlies worshipping. With the mind directed to the Lord in adoration, the mouth, the hands and the body can find nine-fold expression: 1. Singing - Psalms 9:2, 11; 13:6; 40:3. MOUTH 2. Audible Praise - Psalms 103:1; 117:1, 2. 3. Shouting - Psalms 47:1. __________________________________________________ 4. Lifting - Psalms 28:2; 63:4; 119:48; 134:2; 141:2. HANDS 5. Clapping - Psalms 47:1. 6. Musical Instruments - Psalms 150. __________________________________________________ 7.Standing - Psalms 134:1; 135:2. 182
