15. What instruction should be followed to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost? LESSON 5: SANCTIFIED LIVING, A STUDY OF THE DOCTRINE OF SANCTIFICATION 1. WHAT IS SANCTIFICATION? Sanctification is that working of the Holy Spirit that SETS US APART for God's service. It means that a person's life has been consecrated in such a way to God that it is appropriate for God's use. Romans 12:1. We must be sanctified if we expect to be used of God. God's great delight is to use men, women and vessels that are set apart for His service alone. 2 Corinthians 6:17; Galatians 1:15, 16; Hebrews 11:16. 3. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE "SET APART" TO GOD ALONE? Real consecration means that our affections and our interests are undivided and unwavering. We literally present our bodies and our minds as living sacrifices unto Him. Romans 12:1, 2; l Thessalonians 5:23; James 4:8-10 (read in Amplified New Testament). 4. HOW CAN THIS STATE OF SANCTIFICATION BE MORE FULLY DESCRIBED? Sanctification is the complete dedication of our lives, time, talents and possessions for His kingdom. Luke 14:26, 27; 9:23; Mark 8:34; 10:17-27; Matthew 16:24. 5. WHEN DOES SANCTIFICATION TAKE PLACE IN THE BELIEVER'S LIFE? A. Sanctification begins with the consecration of the will and continues throughout our walk with God in every phase of life. 1 Peter 3:15. 169 2. WHY MUST WE BE SANCTIFIED?
