If you were not a Christian when you were baptized, you certainly should! Acts 19:4, 5 shows that a dead ritual is not sufficient. Also, if in your heart you do not feel that your water baptism was an actual fulfillment of the things taught in the Scripture, you should be properly baptized. 7. WHEN A PERSON IS BAPTIZED, 3 THINGS ARE SIGNIFIED OUTWARDLY: A. Farewell to Heathenism. It means the severing of relations with the ungodly ways of heathenism. It signifies the start of the CHRISTian life and dedication to Christ and the work of His Church. Baptism into His name passes the ownership of our life over to the Lord Jesus Christ. B. A New Standard of Living. From this point on, the Christian is to live according to the New Covenant of the Lord Jesus Christ. This entails both its blessings and its obligations. C.
