mother, her grandmother and her aunt. These three strong- willed ladies fostered an environment of bickering, nitpicking and no small amount of disfunction. So many who grow up without a father are left with a deep scar of rejection. She found life in her Heavenly Father and has been a source of love to hundreds over the years. Heroes are not those who had everything easy. Being born with the silver spoon in your mouth does not illicit respect. Jesus conquered not with sword and shield. He conquered in love by giving himself. He overcame all the powers of darkness with the greatest demonstration of love the world has ever seen. The truly heroic are not usually the most ambitious. They usually wish someone else could do it. Every hero must battle with self- doubt and fear. We all are in a war against the selfish tendencies that lead to sin. Victory in this life must be fought for because it truly matters what you do. We’re not just biding our time waiting for the end. Why else are we encouraged to store up treasures in heaven? Our victory is measured in heaven. We all must effectively use our resources - Our time, our talents and our treasures. Jesus wants to rescue us from a meaningless life. To conquer in this life is to expand the ruleof heaven to earth.
