The other day while I was praying, rather grateful that I had nothing in my heart against anyone, the Lord showed me that my attitude toward a certain television evangelist was not right. At first I rejected the thought, but then when I actually lifted the man’s name to God and began asking the Lord to help him, a new sense of release came to me. It is alright to have personal convictions, but judg- ment is still in His hands. Be at peace. 7. FOCUS ON GUIDANCE: Pray for guidance in specific matters. Seek God’s direction to avoid temptation in all areas of life. “Lead us not into temptation” We know, from the first chapter of James, that God does not tempt anyone. Jesus is not telling us that God will lead us into temptation unless we pray that He does not. Rather, it is a prayer that God’s saints will not be exposed to trials so severe that their loyalty to God may be under- mined. “Keep me, O Lord, from any situation where I will discredit Your name or dishonor Your Word!” This is the kind of prayer that requires urgency and sincer- ity. We are asking God not to allow us to be overwhelmed by temptation, and therefore succumb to it. We are calling upon God to keep us from the snares of the enemy. “Father, do not let us be subjected to any temptation or trial which would destroy us, or cause us to lose faith in You, or dis- obey Your will.” Ask God specifically to keep you this day from doing anything that will discredit or dishonor His name, anything that would, in any way, bring reproach on
