Many people are vulnerable to false doctrine because they have never really studied the Bible. They teach what they have heard other people teach. If they do not have solid principles of biblical interpretation, they can easily mishandle to the Word. This means that we must choose the solid rock of the Word of God over miracles, dreams, visions, prophecies and other supernatural displays. The more you handle the true, the easier it is to identify the false…even in your own heart.

Sticking to the Basics

One of the best ways to avoid pitfalls in ministry areas is to never tire of the basics of Christianity. One of my mentors, Dick Iverson, used to tell us, “Keep the basic beautiful.” New Testament Christianity is pretty simple. The basics of Christianity are still the keys to success. They will work in every generation. We must trust the basics.
