Watchout For WOLVES: Keys To Discerning Authentic Ministries & Evaluating Doctrinal Trends

An appalling and horrible thing… --Amp A horrible and shocking thing… --NLT

He sees false ministers as spots and blemishes (2 Pet. 2:13b-14; Jude 12-13).

They are spots and blemishes, carousing in their own deceptions while they feast with you, having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls. They have a heart trained in covetous practices, and are accursed children. 2 Peter 2:13b-14 The word that is used for “blemish” here can also be translated “disgrace.” These false ministers are a disgrace to the Gospel. When these people join you in fellowship meals celebrating the love of the Lord, they are like dangerous reefs that can shipwreck you. They are shameless in the way they care only about themselves. They are like clouds blowing over dry land without giving rain, promising much but producing nothing. They are like trees without fruit at harvesttime. They are not only dead but doubly dead, for they have been pulled out by the roots. They are like wild waves of the sea, churning up the dirty foam of their shameful deeds. They are wandering stars, heading for everlasting gloom and darkness . Jude 12-13

In the above passage, Jude refers to these false ministries as…

• Dangerous reefs that can cause shipwreck

Shameless

• Clouds without rain (there is the expectation of refreshment but only disappointment)
