4. False ministries have spiritual pride, believing and leading people to believe that they have secret revelation that only comes through them (1 Tim. 6:3-5). If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness, he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself. 1 Timothy 6:3-5

5. False ministries speak evil of things that they do not fully understand (1 Tim. 6:3-5; 2 Pet. 2:12, 17; Jude 10).

Peter says that these false ministries ar e like “wells without wat er” (2 Pet. 2:17). False ministries like to give you the perception that they are deep, but when you get to the bottom there is “no water.”

6. False ministries are obsessed with disputes and arguments over words (1 Tim. 6:4).

7. False ministries see godliness as a means of gain (1 Tim. 6:5).

8. False ministries will preach a message of peace with no mention of repentance (Jer. 6:13-15).

9. False ministries teach that their message brings liberty while they themselves are slaves of corruption (2 Pet. 2:18 19). For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error.
