Chapter 4 The Face, Fruit and Fate of False Ministries

In this book we are addressing the issue of discernment. We are addressing the issue of the need for such discernment, especially as we get closer to the return of the Lord when Jesus tells us that we will see a rise of false ministries who have the potential of leading us astray. Why do we need such discernment? We need it because false ministries do not present themselves as such. They look very much like the real and can have a false anointing that can resemble the true anointing. How do false ministries present themselves? What is the face of false ministry? The word “face” refers to the surface of anything. It refers to the front. It refers to the side or edge that is presented to view. When we apply this to false ministry, we are referring to how they present themselves or how they are viewed by all outward appearances. On the outside (the face), false ministries seem to have a positive appeal. Paul indicates that they often speak smooth, persuasive and flattering words or blessings (Rom. 16:18; Col. 2 4).
