Watchout For WOLVES: Keys To Discerning Authentic Ministries & Evaluating Doctrinal Trends

Paul eventually said to some of his followers in essence , “If I tell you the truth will you hate me?” What he literally said was, “ Have I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth? (Gal. 4:16).

The people wanted to kill Jesus because He spoke a truth that they did not want to hear (John 8:40).

But now you seek to kill Me, a Man who has told you the truth which I heard from God. Abraham did not do this. John 8:40 Paul indicated that the time would come when people would not endure sound doctrine (2 Tim. 4:3a). It will not be enough for them, they will want new, spectacular, private and pleasant to the taste.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine… 2 Timothy 4:3

This word for “sound” literally means “that which is healthy or that which is good for you.” Too many people are like children who want to eat things that are bad for them and things that will lead them into a state of sickness. It is interesting in the natural that many of the exotic foods that people crave are not really that good for you. Some of them if prepared improperly can actually kill you. God has some basic food for us which will cause us to prosper and be in health spiritually. We must be careful that we never lose our appetite for the basics or that which gives and sustains life.

The FUEL of false ministries

The food and the fuel of false ministries are similar concepts using different analogies. When we talk about fuel, we are talking about things that fuel the fire. Fuel is defined as whatever feeds or sustains any expenditure, outlay, passion or excitement. False ministries are fueled by dry tinder. This includes people who are:
