The second characteristic of God’s people as s heep is that they have a thirst or an appetite for that which is new or novel. Paul makes reference to this in his second letter to his spiritual son, Timothy (2 Tim. 4:3-4). For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. 2 Timothy 4:3-4 Somehow in the culture of our times, we have this idea that “new” is the same thing as “better.” I have seen people who were willing to get any new car rather than getting an older, but more reliable car.
