963 PROVERBS answer softly (Prov 15:1); (5) means hating the wrong things (Prov 13:5); (6) comes from thinking the right things (Prov 23:7); (7) results in reaping good things (Prov 12:14 & 13:2 & 18:20 & 19:5); (8) results in prolonging your life (Prov 12:19 & 13:3 & 14:3 & 18:7,21 & 19:9 & 21:28); (9) results in a better, healthier life (Prov 1-5:4,30 & 16:24 & 17:1); (10) results in God being pleased (Prov 12:22 & 15:26); (11) can be priceless (Prov 10:20); (12) stops the mouth of fools (Prov 26:5, Rom 3:19 and Titus 1:10,11); (13) means praising others and not flattering them (Prov 26:28 & 27:21 & 29:5); (14) makes where you live more livable (Prov 11:11 & 22:10); (15) proves you have wisdom (Prov 10:18,31,32 & 11:12 & 14:3 & 15:2,7); (16) means studying the right things (Prov 15:28); (17) means telling the truth (Prov 14:5,25 & 17:4 & 25:18 & 26:24-28); (18) means being a blessing to others (Prov 10:21 & 11:9 & 12:6,18,25 & 13:17 & 15:23 & 24:26 & 25:11,13); and (19) means establishing peace (Prov 18:6,19 & 29:22). According to God, failing to learn character is: (1) dangerous for you (Prov 27:8); and (2) disastrous for others (Prov 25:19). According to God, controlling your spirit: (1) means controlling your facial expressions (Prov 21:29); (2) is superior to physical strength (Prov 16:32); (3) protects you from enemy attacks (Prov 25:28); (4) influences leadership (Prov 25:15); (5) appeases strife (Prov 15:18 & 25:8-10); (6) requires wisdom (Prov 14:17,29 & 27:3); (7) avoids future pain (Prov 19:19); (8) gives you more friends (Prov 22:24); and (9) is beneficial to you (Prov 18:14 & 19:11 and Psa 119:165).

According to God, learning to forgive means: (1) learning to love (Prov 10:12 & 17:9).

According to God, living for others: (1) only blesses you (Prov 11:26, Rom 12:10, Phil 2:3 and I Pet 2:17).

Lesson #19. Note the value of “maintaining a merry heart”

According to God, a merry heart means: (1) learning to smile more (Prov 15:13); (2) learning to enjoy life more (Prov 15:15); and (3) having a healthier life (Prov 17:22). According to God, being a friend means: (1) learning to never forsake people (Prov 17:17 & 27:10); (2) learning the Bible in order to counsel (Prov 27:9); (3) learning to better people (Prov 27:17); (4) learning to be loyal to truth, not institutions (Prov 27:6); and (5) learning to be friendly (Prov 18:24).

According to God, absolutes: (1) resolve differences (Prov 18:18).

According to God, breaking your word: (1) is a snare to your life (Prov 20:25, Eccl 5:1-6 and Psa 15:1-4 & 66:13-14).

According to God, children who honor their parents: (1) live longer (Prov 20:20, Exo 21:17 and Eph 6:1-3).

According to God, avoiding the wrong crowd means: (1) learning to avoid future trouble (Prov 1:10-19 & 4:14-19 & 16:29-30 & 22:24-25 & 23:6-8); (2) learning not to envy them (Prov 3:31 & 23:17 & 24:1-2,19-20); (3) learning to avoid future destruction (Prov 6:12-15 & 13:20 & 17:11 & 24:21-22); (4) learning the Bible well enough to know what to avoid (Prov 14:7 & 19:27 & 29:27 & 30:11-14); and (5) learning to avoid future poverty (Prov 23:20-21). According to God, giving: (1) results in getting (Prov 3:9-10 & 11:24-25 & 13:7 & 19:17 & 22:9 & 28:27, Mal 3:8-10, Lk 6:38 and II Cor 9:6-7); and (2) is based upon working (Prov 21:25-26). According to God, proper respect for authority: (1) benefits you (Prov 16:14-15 & 19:12 & 20:2, Rom 13:1-7 and I Pet 2:13-15); and (2) is God’s plan for mankind (Prov 17:26). According to God, minding one’s own business: (1) requires wisdom (Prov 20:3); and (2) means learning to avoid future trouble (Prov 3:30 & 25:17 & 26:17). According to God, honesty and integrity: (1) please the Lord (Prov 11:1 & 20:10,23 & 23:10,11); (2) is better than wealth (Prov 19:1 & 21:3 & 22:1 and I Sam 15:22); (3) benefits your children (Prov 20:7); (4) results in real satisfaction (Prov 20:17); (5) comes from the Lord (Prov 16:11); and (6) must be the example for others to follow (Prov 22:28). According to God, paying our bills: (1) is a command, not a request (Prov 3:27-29 and Jere 22:13).
