PROVERBS 2:6

It takes wisdom to avoid the wrong crowd 10 My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. 11 If they say, Come with us, let us 1 lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause: 12 Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit: 13 We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil: 14 Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse: 15 My son, walk not thou in the way with them 3 ; 2 refrain thy foot from their path: 16 For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood. 17 Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird. 18 And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives. 19 So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof. Wisdom cries to be heard 20 Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets: 21 She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying, 22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? 23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my SPIRIT unto you, I will make know 4 n my words unto you. 24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man r egarded; 25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of m y reproof: 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will

mock when your fear cometh; 27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. 28 5 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: 29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: 30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. 31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. 32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. 33 But whoso hearkeneth unto 6 me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil. Proverbs 2 1 My son, if thou wilt receive my 6 words, and hide my commandments with thee; 2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; 3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; 1 st benefit of wisdom – A better understanding of the Word of God 4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; 5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God . 6 7 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. 1:10 Make no mistake. Sin is unquestionably enticing (Heb 11:24-25, Prov 9:16-18 and Mt 16:24-27). 1:15 When you have to start compromising yourself and your morals for the people around you (vs 10-14), it’s probably time to change the people around you ( walk not thou in the way with them ). 1:22 Evangelist Hyman Appelman in Come Unto Me notes: The ages have definitely taught all of us that it is the very height of folly for men to lose themselves in earthly trifles as the source of true happiness. Yet, there are too many, even in this enlightened age, who spend their days in fruitless chasing after the will-o’-the-wisps of this world’s blandishments. One expects it from the flesh, another from business and wealth, another from honor and fame, another from play-pretties and play-parties, another from drink, another from gambling, another from lust. There are some, higher of mind, loftier of heart, who seek satisfaction in the arts, in music, in the theater, in literature, in paintings. But God proclaims the eternal folly of such a course, when He cries to all of us, “How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity?” 1 1:23 Giving God the “last say” ( Turn you at my reproof ) results in being SPIRIT -filled ( I will pour out my SPIRIT unto you ) and Word-led ( I will make known my words unto you ). 1:26 If you want to make God laugh , tell Him your plans and how you are going to live your life. 1 Hyman J.
