JOB 13:16

JOB 14:20

815

16 He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him. 17 Hear diligently my speech, and my declaration with your ears. 18 Behold now, I have ordered my cause; I know that I shall be justified. 19 Who is he that will plead with me? for now, if I hold my tongue, I shall give up the ghost. 20 Only do not two things unto me: then will I not hide myself from thee. 21 Withdraw thine hand far from me: and let not thy dread make me afraid. 22 Then call thou, and I will answer: or let me speak, and answer thou me. 23 How many are mine iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin. 24 Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and holdest me for thine enemy? 25 Wilt thou break a leaf driven to and fro? and wilt thou pursue the dry stubble? 26 For thou writest bitter things against me, andmakestme to possess the iniquities 1 of my youth. 27 Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks, and lookest narrowly unto all my paths; thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet. 28 And he, as a rotten thing, consumeth, as a garment that is moth eaten. Job 14 Job continues his response to Zophar Date - c. 1625 BC/AM 2375 1 Man that is born of a woman is of few days, 2 and full of trouble. 2 He cometh forth 3 like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not. 3 And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee? 4 4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one. 5 5 Seeing his days are determined, the num-

ber of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass; 6 Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day. 7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. 8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground; 9 Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant. 10 But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he? 11 As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up: 12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep. 13 Oh that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me! The promise of a resurrected body for OT saints (Fulfilled - Rev 20:4) 14 If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, 6 till my change come. P 15 Thou shalt call, 6 and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands. P 16 For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin? 17 My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity. 18 And surely the mountain falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place. 19 The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man. 20 Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.

14:1 Babies are such a nice way to start people; then it’s all down hill after that ( is of few days, and full of trouble ). 14:14 Question: If a man die, shall he live again? Answer: Yes (Job 19:25-27). 14:15 The body is the work of God’s hands. Although the image of God (Gen 1:26-27) does not include the body, still, according to Psalms 139:14, God created our bodies to be in union with our soul so that both body and soul were destined to immortality. In fact, had Adam and Eve not sinned the body and soul would have lived in perfect union the way God initially designed it to for all eternity. Because God recognizes the dignity of the body and its true relation to the soul, there must be a resurrection. According to Daniel 12:2 and Acts 24:14-15, there will be two resurrections: 1. One for the just , which will occur on three separate occasions: (1) Rev 4: 1- 2a (Rapture of the Church); (2) Rev 20:4a ,6 (Return of Christ); and (3) after Rev 20:15 (End of the Millennium), and are permanent resurrections 2. One for the unjust , which will occur once ( Rev 20:5 ,11-15), and is permanent 14:16 Job was convinced that God was putting all his sins into a bag (vs 17) and saving them for judgment against him ( dost thou not watch over my sin ). Sadly, this is the image that many have of God today. Deep down they fear that God is just waiting for them to fail so He can judge them. This view of God, of course, is a perverted view (Exo 34:6-7).
