NUMBERS 25:18

The promise of CHRIST’S First Coming; of a Kingdom where HE will rule; of wrath when HE returns (Fulfilled - Lk 2:7,11 - 1 BC & Rev 20:4,6 & Rev 19:11-21) 17 I shall see him, but not now: I shall be- hold him, but not nigh: there shall come a 1 STAR out of Jacob, and a 2 SCEPTRE shall rise out of Israel, 3 and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the chil- dren of Sheth. PPP 18 And Edom shall be a possession, Seir also shall be a possession for his enemies; 2 and Israel shall do valiantly. P 19 Out of Jacob shall come 2 HE that shall have dominion, and shall destroy him that remaineth of the city. P 20 And when he looked on Amalek, he took up his parable, and said, Amalek was the first of the nations; 2 but his latter end shall be that he perish for ever. P 21 And he looked on the Kenites, and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwellingplace, and thou puttest thy nest in a rock. 22 2 Nevertheless the Kenite shall be wasted, 4 until Asshur shall carry thee away captive. P P 23 And he took up his parable, and said, Alas, who shall live 2 when God doeth this! P 24 And ships shall come from the coast of Chittim, and shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber, 2 and he also shall perish for ever. P 25 And Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place: and Balak also went his way. Numbers 25 1 And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit 5 whoredom with the daughters of Moab. 2 And 6 they called the 7 people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. 3 And Israel joined himself unto Baal- peor: and the anger of the LORD was kin- dled against Israel. 4 And the LORD said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them The promise of Israel’s fall to Assyria (Fulfilled - II Ki 17:6 & 18:10,11 - 721 BC) Balaam’s tragic advice Date - 1448 BC/AM 2552

up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel. 5 And Moses said unto the judges of Is- rael, Slay ye every one his men that were joined unto Baal-peor. 6 And, behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his breth- ren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congre- gation of the children of Israel, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. 7 And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand; 8 And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel. 9 And those that died in the plague were 8 twenty and four thousand. 10 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 11 Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy. 12 Wherefore say, Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace: 13 And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the chil- dren of Israel. 14 Now the name of the Israelite that was slain, even that was slain with the Midianitish woman, was Zimri, the son of Salu, a prince of a chief house among the Simeonites. 15 And the name of the Midianitish wom- an that was slain was Cozbi, the daughter of 9 Zur; he was head over a people, and of a chief house in Midian. 16 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 17 Vex the Midianites, and smite them: 18 For they vex you with their wiles, wherewith they have beguiled you in the matter of Peor, and in the matter of Cozbi, the daughter of a prince of Midian, their

25:3 Because Balaam was not allowed to curse Israel, he advised Balak to join himself (or, mingle, mix) with the children of Israel. That advice cost Balaam his life (Num 31:8,16). God knows what the world can do to His people (I Cor 15:33 and I Jn 2:15-17), so He warns them not to mingle.
