and afterward he shall come into the camp . 29 And this shall be a statute for ever unto you : that in the 1 seventh month , on the tenth day of the month , ye shall afflict your souls , and do no work at all , whether it be one of your own country , or a stranger that sojourneth among you : 30 For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you , to cleanse you , that ye may be clean from all your sins before the LORD . 31 It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you , and ye shall afflict your souls , by a statute for ever . 32 And the priest , whom he shall anoint , and whom he shall consecrate to minister in the priest’s office in his father’s stead , shall make the atonement , and shall put on the linen clothes , even the holy garments : 33 And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary , and he shall make an atonement for the tabernacle of the con- gregation , and for the altar , and he shall make an atonement for the priests , and for all the people of the congregation . 34 And this shall be an everlasting stat- ute unto you , to make an 2 atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins 3 once a year . And he did as the LORD commanded Moses. Leviticus 17 The one place of sacrifice Date - Apr 9th - 13th, 1486 BC/AM 2514 1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Speak unto Aaron , and unto his sons , and unto all the children of Israel , and say unto them ; This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded , saying , 3 What man soever there be of the house of Israel , that killeth an ox , or lamb , or goat , in the camp , or that killeth it out of the camp , 4 And bringeth it not 4 unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation , to of- fer an offering unto the LORD before the
tabernacle of the LORD ; blood shall be im- puted unto that man ; he hath shed blood ; and that man shall be cut off from among his people : 5 To the end that the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices , which they offer in the open field , even that they may bring them unto the LORD , unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation , unto the priest , and offer them for peace offerings unto the LORD . 6 And the priest shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar of the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congrega- tion , and burn the fat for a sweet savour unto the LORD . 7 And they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto 6 devils , after whom they have gone a whoring . This shall be a stat- ute for ever unto them throughout their generations . Ceremonial and moral laws (Concerning sacrificing) 8 And thou shalt say unto them , Whatso- ever man there be of the house of Israel , or of the strangers which sojourn among you , that offereth a burnt offering of sacrifice , 9 And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation , to offer it unto the LORD ; even that man shall be 5 cut off from among his people . Moral law (Concerning the eating of blood) 10 And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel , or of the strangers that so- journ among you , that eateth any manner of 7 blood ; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood , and will 8 cut him off from among his people . 11 For the life of the flesh is in the 9 blood : and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an 10 atonement for your souls : for it is the 11 blood that maketh an atonement for the soul . 12 Therefore I said unto the children of Israel , No soul of you shall 12 eat blood , neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood .

Note -All of life’s processes are carried on by the blood. That is why Jesus had to shed His blood for sin in order to atone for our souls. Because the wages of sin is death (Gen 2:17 & Rom 6:23), the blood, which represents life, had to be shed. 10. Rom 3:25 & Heb 9:28 & I Jn 2:2 & 4:10 11. Note - There were two reasons why the Jews were forbidden to eat blood: * The life of the flesh is derived from it (Gen 9:3-6)How how we leave it is important to God. Thus, both abortion and euthanasia are wrong in God’s eyes ( Jere 1:5 ). * Atonement for sins is made by it (Eph 1:7) How we are saved is important to God. Thus, anyone who tampers with salvation (atonement) is wrong ( Jonah 2:9 ). we come into this world and
16:29 The only fast required by law was on the Day of Atonement. On that day, and that day alone, God required His people to afflict their souls (fast) for a twenty-four hour period (from evening to evening - Lev 23:32). Years later, after the seventy year Babylonian captivity ended, the Jews added four more fasts to their annual agenda. Though not required by law, these four fasts were in memory of the national calamities through which the nation of Israel had passed ( Zech 7:5 and Isa 58:6 ): 1. Feast of Purim – This fast was to commemorate the preservation of the Jews of Persia in 474 BC (Esther 9:20-32) 2. Tenth of Tebet – This fast marked the beginning of the siege of Jerusalem by Babylon on Jan 10, 588 BC (II Ki 25:1) 3. Seventeenth of Tammuz – This fast marked the day that the city of Jerusalem was entered by Babylonian invaders in 586 BC (Jere 39:2 & 52:6-7) 4. Ninth of Ab – This fast marked the day that the city of Jerusalem and the Temple were destroyed in 586 BC (II Ki 25:8-9)
