murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters. 16 Yet if any man suffer as a 1 Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. The promise of rewards to all who are found faithful when CHRIST returns (Fulfilled - Rev 4:2) 17 For the time is come that 2 JUDGMENT must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that 3 obey not the GOSPEL OF 4 GOD ? P 18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? 19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God 5 commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator. I Peter 5 An exhortation to pastors Date Written - c. AD 65 1 The 6 elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and 7 a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: 2 8 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof , not by 9 constraint, but willingly; 10 not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; 3 Neither as 11 being lords over God’s heritage, 12 but being ensamples to the flock. Crown #5 - The Crown of Glory (The Shepherd’s Crown) 4 And when the chief 13 SHEPHERD 14 shall appear, ye 2 shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. PP 5 Likewise, ye younger, submit your- selves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be 15 subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: 16 for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 6 17 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, 18 that he may exalt you in due time:
7 19 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your 20 ad- versary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, 21 seeking whom he may devour: 9 Whom 22 resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. 10 But the God of all grace, 23 who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you 24 perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you . 11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 12 By 25 Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand. 13 The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you , saluteth you; and so doth 26 Marcus 27 my son. 14 28 Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.

4:18 Why would anyone want to elevate anybody who is “scarcely saved?” Yet, hundreds of thousands of Christians do just that, and make other Christians and their movements the focus of their Christianity. There are no heroes in Heaven, only sinners saved by grace (Rom 12:3, I Cor 4:6, II Cor 3:5 & 12:7, Gal 6:3 and Job 32:21 ). 5:4 The fifth (and last) crown mentioned in the Bible, which can be earned by Christians ( Rev 4:10 ), is the “ crown of glory .” This crown is bestowed upon ministers who faithfully feed their flocks and stay focused on their calling (I Tim 6:11-12). 5:5 THE ADAGE IS TRUE: Real humility is not thinking less of ourselves (although that’s not a bad idea - Rom 12:3); it is thinking of ourselves less ( be subjest one to another ) 5:8 THE ADAGE IS TRUE: Pray ( Be sober, be vigilant - Mt 26:41) ... or be prey REFER NEXT - after Acts 28:31 (Map #121)
