the 1 word, 2 they also may without the word be won by the 3 conversation of the wives; 2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. 3 4 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of 5 plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; 4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a 6 meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of 7 great price. 5 For after this manner 8 in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: 6 Even as Sara obeyedAbraham, 9 calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement. Husbands are to love and honor their wives 7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them 10 according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being 11 heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. Christians are to be like-minded with one another 8 Finally, be ye all of 12 one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: 9 13 Not rendering evil for evil, or 14 rail- ing for railing: but contrariwise 15 blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. 10 16 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:

11 16 Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. 12 16 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, 17 and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. 13 And who is he that will harm you, 18 if ye be followers of that which is good? 14 19 But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, 20 happy are ye : and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; 15 But 21 sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and 22 be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: 16 Having a good conscience; that, 23 whereas they speak evil of you, as of evil- doers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ. 17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing. The SPIRIT of CHRIST through Noah once preached to those who later went to Hell 18 24 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the 25 unjust, that 26 HE might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but 27 quickened by the Spirit: 19 By which also 28 HE went and preached unto the spirits in prison; 20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the 29 days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein 30 few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

3:7a This word ( honour ) comes from the Greek word τιµη ( time ). To honor someone is to spend “time” with them. If time is money and money is valuable, then to honor your wife by spending time with her is to see her value, i.e., her true worth. There are five things every husband needs to remember when “valuing” his wife: 1. He needs to listen more than he talks (Prov 18:13) 2. He needs to talk (communicate softly), while listening (Prov 15:1) 3. He needs to talk without being critical or negative (Prov 19:13 & 27:15) 4. He needs to empathize with his wife (I Pet 3:7) Husbands need to learn to listen with their eyes (Jms 1:19), learn “what” to say (Prov 10:32), and protect their wife’s privacy (Prov 11:13). 5. He needs to learn to deal with conflict (Prov 20:3) 3:7 b A woman is weaker than a man physically (Gen 3:17), emotionally (Gen 3:16), and spiritually (Gen 3:1-6), but is stronger than a man mentally and intellectually ( Gen 2:18 b & 3:16 and I Tim 2:11 ). 3:7 c Husbands who want their prayers to be “heard” need to honor their wives by spending time with them and helping them physically, emotionally and spiritually.
