2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this will we do, 1 if God permit.
13 For when God made 8 PROMISE to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, 9 he sware by himself, 14 Saying, 10 Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. 15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. 16 For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. 17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: 18 That by two 11 immutable things, in which it was 12 impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: 19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which 13 entereth into that within the veil; 20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. Hebrews 7 Melchisedec - An OT appearance of CHRIST Date Written - c. AD 61 1 For this 14 MELCHISEDEC , king of 15 Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; 2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation 16 KING OF RIGHTEOUSNESS , and after that also 17 KING OF SALEM , which is, King of peace;

Those who fail to “grow up” shame the SON OF GOD
4 For it is impossible for 2 those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the 3 HOLY GHOST , 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. Christians who bear fruit (witness for CHRIST ) will be blessed (John 15:1-5) 7 For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: Christians who bear thorns (do not witness for CHRIST ) will not be blessed (John 15:6) 8 But that which beareth 4 thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be 5 burned. 9 But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. 10 For God is not 6 unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, 7 in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. 11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: 12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
3 Without father, without mother, with- out descent, 18 having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the 19 SON OF GOD ; abideth a priest continually. 6:2 a Those who “ go on unto perfection ” (vs 1) have a good understanding of the doctrine of baptisms . There are five different baptisms mentioned in the Bible: 1. Ceremonial baptism (ritual washings – Lev 15:1-11 & 22:4-6, Exo 30:19 & 40:31, Num 19:1-9-19 and Mk 7:2 a ) There are 3 Greek words that are translated “ wash ” in the NT that are directly connected to the ritual washings of the OT: * QLSτZ ( nipto ) – hand and feet washing (Jn 13:1-5/ Exo 30:19 & 40:31, Lev 15:11 and Mk 7:2) * OοXτUοX ( loutrou ) – body washing (Acts 9:36-37/Lev 22:4-6 and Num 19:19) * SOXQZ ( pluno ) – inanimate object washings (i.e., robes – Rev 7:14/Lev 15:1-11 and/or nets – Lk 5:2/Lev 15:12-13) NOTE – Interestingly enough, the Greek word used here in Hebrews 6:2 for baptisms comes from the word EDSτL]Z ( baptizo ), and is not connected with the three words used to describe ritual washings. Thus, this word ( baptisms ) indicates more than just ceremonial ritual washings; it includes all five baptisms that are mentioned throughout the Bible. John F. Walvoord and Roy B. Zuck in The Bible Knowledge Commentary agree. They note: Moreover the significance of the various “baptisms” which Christianity knew (John’s baptism, Christian baptism proper, or even Spirit baptism) would have to be relearned… 1 2. CHRIST’S baptism (His sufferings) (Lk 12:50 and Mt 3:13 )
