crownof righteousness, which the 13 LORD , the righteous 14 JUDGE , shall give me at that 15 DAY : and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. PP Paul’s last request of Timothy 9 Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me: 10 For 16 Demas hath forsaken me, 17 hav-ing loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, 18 Titus unto Dalmatia. 11 Only Luke is with me. Take 19 Mark, and bring himwith thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry. 12 And 20 Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus. 13 The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the 21 books, but especially the parchments. 14 22 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works: 15 Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words. 16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge. 17 23 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. 18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto 7 HIS heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. P 19 Salute Prisca and 24 Aquila, and the household of 25 Onesiphorus. 20 26 Erastus abode at Corinth: but 27 Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick. 21 Do thy diligence to come beforewinter. Eubulus greeteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren. 22 The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.
worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto 1 salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 2 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, 3 and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be 4 perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. II Timothy 4 Paul charges Timothy to preach the Word with patience Date Written - c. AD 67 1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, 5 who shall judge the quick and the dead at 6 his appearing and 7 his KINGDOM ; PP 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, 8 rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 5 But watch thou in all things, 9 endure afflictions, do the work of an 10 evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. 6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my 11 departure is at hand. Crown #3 - The Crown of Righteousness (The Steadfast Crown) 7 I have fought a good fight, 12 I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a

4:1 This word ( charge ) is the Greek word GLDPDUτXUοPDL ( diamarturomai ) andmeans “ to be thoroughly (dia) intensive (marturomai).” Diamarturomai signifies “to testify through and through;” hence “to charge earnestly.” Meaning, Paul’s “ charge ” to Pastor Timothy was more than a mere request. It was a moral obligation to be carried out. Why? Because there is a day of reckoning coming for believers who are “called to serve.” It’s called the JUDGMENT SEAT OF CHRIST ( II Cor 5:10-11 ). While it is true that every believer will have to stand and give account at the JUDGMENT SEAT OF CHRIST for how he/she lived after they were saved, those believers who were specifically “called to serve” will be held more accountable (Lk 12:48 and Jms 3:1 ). 4:2a These five verbs ( preach, be instant, reprove, rebuke and exhort ), along with four more in verse 5 ( watch, endure, do the work and make full proof ), are in the imperative mood, which is the mood of command in the Greek, and sum up the work of the ministry. The Apostle Paul warned Pastor Timothy to stay faithful to the Word, not the worshippers. Thus, Paul is not asking Timothy to
